I was hoping that the 2nd and 3rd book in the series would be better but unfortunately they followed the same scheme and were extremely predictable. I figured out within the first few chapters of each what was going to end up happening because there was so much overly obvious foreshadowing thrown in. The internal monologues also were just too over the top. It felt like each chapter of each book had at least a page of the main character reminding themselves why they are so messed up. We don’t need that many reminders as to why the main character is messed up.

Stubborn Love – Book #1
Even a broken heart has trouble resisting a Stubborn Love.
Emmie Hayes loved the beautiful Ashton Stirling deeply; nobody could deny that. She had given him her youth, and all he gave in return was misery and pain. She was ready for a new beginning, but Ashton wasn’t about to let her go so easily, even if it meant destroying both their lives in the process.
Three years later Emmie convinces herself she is ready to leave all of that heartbreak in the past and find a little piece of normal for herself. She heads to New York City to pick up where she left off, determined to finish art school. Emmie is determined to focus on school and not let anything distract her, but life has a way of throwing curveballs.
Paige, Emmie’s new roommate, brings Colin Bennett into her life. His smoldering eyes and lean muscular body are difficult for any girl to ignore. Only thing is, Emmie isn’t any girl. Her past makes her resistant to his charms. Colin isn’t one to give up easily, and just when he thinks he may have found a way to her stubborn heart, her tragic history may have found a way to tear them apart.

Once upon a time Mackenzie Phillips thought she’d found her
happily ever after. She had married her high school sweetheart and had started
her perfect family. But one tragic night Mac’s perfect life was ripped away
from her, leaving her beautiful fairy tale existence in ruins.

Years passed with Mac living in a fog, until another unfortunate turn of events placed her world on its head once again. Now, still carrying the tender wounds of her past, this widow has to face the realities of life again.
Broken and truly alone, she must find work. In walks her new employer, Dean Johnson, a guy who is just broken enough himself, that she thinks he might actually be able to understand her. But Mac soon discovers that that bond with Dean may instead force her to face demons she isn’t yet ready to deal with.
